I’ve been using this Duane Reade for 37 years. The experience has always been excellent. Now you have one person at the pharmacy trying To handle all the customers and the phone I just spent 25 minutes on hold. They put me on hold nine times how could anyone function and do the job properly? If there’s only one person you have two pharmacists who are giving flu shots and doing prescription, but one person taking money at the register or giving prescriptions Union Square must be one of their busiest locations. Don’t you think someone has brains like a manager to hire a more staff you charge enough? It’s a joke

Duane Reade at 1 Union Square South has a 5 star pharmacist! Her name is Neetha and she goes above and beyond to expedite orders, gives brilliant pharmacy advice, and is kind and caring. A super smile and the best service ever! Phenomenal Pharmacist!!

The loction on 14th street and union square is a great location. They have everything I need when I enter even if it's to randomly shop. The security is always at the door doing a phenomenal job. The associates and cashiers are always kind, polite, and professional.

I'm not the type to write reviews, but I just have to say something. I called the pharmacy today regarding a prescription since I had a message saying to call and Muran answered the phone and she was completely unprofessional and rude from the second she picked up the phone. Don't know if she was having a bad day, but I've been in customer service and the way you handled the call is not the way to do things... I tried to explain the situation and constantly got interrupted to the point I had to say multiple times "im not done speaking...". Never had such a horrible experience. Teach your employees, and feel free to listen to the call recording. Do better.

Check out this clown who was stationed at Duane Reade, located on 1 Union Square South, New York, NY 10003 who called me out my name in front of several guests because he was in the wrong. He needs to be fired expeditiously. He is allegedly employed through Narrow and/or Allied Security, management (James B.) was unsure and seemed to be in agreeance with this loser.

Staff made me wait in line twice to get a passport picture. They neglected to tell me that their system for emailing pictures was broken. I had to come back and return. They were rude and hard to communicate with as well.

I wish I could give 0 stars. This pharmacy is an absolute disgrace. Just 2 minutes after closing, desperately needing my prescription, and they heartlessly refused to assist me. Their lack of empathy and utter disregard for a customer's urgent medical needs is beyond appalling. This is the epitome of terrible service – robotic, inflexible, and completely indifferent to the well-being of their customers. I will never set foot in this pharmacy again and strongly advise everyone to avoid this place like the plague. They clearly don’t care about their customers at all. Shameful!

I rarely go to this branch because I find service hardly to be reliable.
Except when I came in on July 3 and pickup a brace for Carpal tunnel and other item, I had the most exceptional service and attention by this young man supervisor by the name of JONY. I was shocked that his quick attention (the old man at the cashier was fluent in English and was not able to assist me to my needs).
I have been a customer of Duane Reade since its inception in Manhattan and Queens (20 + years) for my medication and will continue to be loyal to this institution.
Congratulations for having an exemplar's employee like JONY. My branch, since I returned to NY after being abroad, is 14th/3rd Ave which will remain in record with my hospital Mount Sinai and the attending healthcare physicians.
Thank you to JONY for giving me faith customer service will improve.
